I had a great time this week in NYC where I taught a "Open Guard Perspective" seminar at my good friend Dan Andersons academy in Manhattan. Dan runs an amazing school in the heart of NYC with his wife Dasha and a strong crew of martial artists. Every time is visit them I am inspired.

This weekend I also had the opportunity to coach my little bro Brick Welch at the NY Open. Brick is a super talented up and coming competitor on the black belt level. He submitted his first opponent with a an armlock and looked like he would submit his next opponant in the final with a NASTY armlock again but his opponent somehow survived and ended up out pointing Brick. I am very proud to see Brick competing at the highest level in the sport of jiu jitsu.
